With the launch of Austin Cheese Co. in the Arboretum, the torch for best cheese shop in Austin (IMHO), has been officially passed.

Great question! Because at Austin Cheese Co., it's about more than just the cheese.
Sure, they have a smartly curated selection of mouthwatering craft cheeses from all over the globe. And sure, they'll give you a sample to taste and see if you like it.
On top of that, the store itself is gorgeous. A quirky combination of bright white walls and cabinets with golden yellow trimming is a delightful nod to the cheesy nature of the store.
With a spacious showroom, plenty of seats, and a terrific selection of wines, bubbles, accouterments, and chocolates from Chocolaterie Tessa, you can easily spend hours there browsing and snacking.
But what really makes them special, is 2 fold.
1 - The Menu
Yes, that's right. Not only can you select from a bevy of delicious cheeses and charcuterie, but they also have a delicious made-from-scratch menu.
The fun thing is, their menu incorporates many of the cheeses on display. The Bacon and Brie and Mediterranean Grilled Halloumi sandwiches are simultaneously unique and delicious.

If you're looking to eat a little lighter, you can't miss the Kale Caesar with Aged Parmesan and Asiago or Smoked Salmon with Lemon Vinaigrette salads. Personally, the smoked salmon salad is my absolute favorite. The
pistachio nut-encrusted goat cheese rounds just burst with flavor.
But if you're feeling decadent, you must try the "Mac" & Cheese. Hand-made, fresh gemelli pasta with a rich, creamy cheese sauce made with Gruyere, Fontina and Asiago. Served golden brown and piping hot. Sinfully good.
2 - The People
What truly makes any business, food or otherwise, special is the people. In the case of Austin Cheese Co., the people are just the best.
The staff is knowledgeable, super-friendly, and most importantly, passionate about what they do. There's no one just going through the motions back there. They love the products they're selling and it shows when you speak with them.
